I hate tumblr with a passion

I had to close down my tumblr because it gives me anxiety. Well, I didn't delete it, just kind of left everything blank.

It's a type of blogging I don't understand. Everything's filled with lame reblogs, full of information that goes through your eyes at a speed I can't really stand. Honestly it's like it's made for people with ADHD that can't look at something for more than 2 seconds and it irritates me and as I said makes me anxious :/

Also, I liked to design for it but it's become a worse place lately and people are SO ungrateful. And it's filled the dashboard with advertisements and really it makes me scream so I better stop using it.

I prefer dreamwidth to that honestly. It gives me a feeling of peace and order that tumblr lacks.

Has something like this happened to you?

Hi! I'm just poking around your journal. To answer your question, did I have a similar experience at Tumblr? Yes and no. Tumblr was a fun place until everyone migrated there and it became a zoo. Getting bought by Yahoo didn't help either. They took away features and put up ads with flashing lights that I can't block which give me migraines. I spend less and less time there because it's no longer an enjoyable experience. And now Verizon is acquiring Yahoo? Oh no. That's not good news. Verizon is The Worst. If they can't make money off the site, they'll dump it like last week's garbage.

I'm slowly reposting all of my Tumblr XF fanfic recs to DW for safekeeping. However, I never left DW/LJ completely. I kept my main XF community on LiveJournal (currently inactive because of RL craziness) but backed it up to DW in April.

If you want to meet new friends here, [personal profile] st_aurafina had a friending meme back in January. (I'm guessing you missed it.) It might be too late to add your name (although it couldn't hurt) but you could scroll through the comments, look for people with similar interests. Another good place to look for people is [community profile] snowflake_challenge. They had a friending meme, too. There is also [community profile] 2017revival and [community profile] addme. Someone just put up a Harry Potter friending meme. Because LJ moved its servers to Russia, and the new TOS agreement, a fair number of users have moved from there to here. There has been some backwards migration and new people coming from Tumblr, too. You are not the only one who is dissatisfied.

There are still people blogging but they have Wordpress or Blogspot blogs. I follow a few fashion bloggers, a few cooking blogs, Literature, book reviews. I get some in my email. I have feeds for others.

It's too bad that you didn't have a pleasant experience with it and had to abandon your account. :( There's so much wrong with the site, from the users to the layout and features. I don't like it much either. From what I've seen, people can be so rude and opinionated, it's overwhelming. That's why I only follow accounts that exclusively post nice pictures or fandom related content.

I'm sad to hear you won't be making any more layouts. I think it's a good place to practice coding as it allows you to build the layout from scratch and you can also use javascript. I have learned a lot, that's why I continue to use it. Though the site coders manage to mess things up once in a while making it frustrating to theme makers.

I think I know what you mean about people being ungrateful. Theme makers always complain about people removing their credit or being rude to them. Or was it something else?

As for the ads, I managed to get rid of them with an adblock filter. Have you tried adding one?

I hope that you feel much better now. <3
